Devlog #3: Creating Challenge

Every RPG I play I yearn for some end-game challenge. Once I've done almost everything, I want something difficult and with cool lore implications. Even when I'm not at the end game, I still want the world to be challenging and have a lore reason behind it. That's why I'm a big fan of constant boss fights, as well as super bosses.

The original Final Fantasy games had these in spades, and that's what I'm trying to do with STRPG2. There are (as of me writing this) going to be 3 super bosses. They are going to have some of the best rewards that can be obtained, and one most likely will be the unlock requirement for a party member, probably one of the best party members too.

It's a fitting risk-reward kind of deal. Do you take on a big bad to get some extra loot, or do you beeline for the end of the main story? It's up to you.

As for normal challenges throughout the game, I'm not very good at making puzzles. However, I will attempt a few. Boss battles are (ideally) going to be plentiful, and some tough enemies might just ruin your day through a random encounter!

That's all I wanted to talk about. Please play the updated demo if you haven't already, and consider donating if you like my work!
